Northwestern at Wisconsin Betting Preview: Badgers Favored Over Wildcats

Northwestern at Wisconsin Betting Preview

Northwestern at Wisconsin Betting Preview: The Wisconsin Badgers host the Northwestern Wildcats on Wednesday night in a Big Ten Conference showdown. The Big Ten is the best college basketball conference in the country this season, and it produces some terrific games each night.

Northwestern enters this game with a record of 6-6 overall, and just 3-5 in Big Ten Conference action. After starting off the conference season with three straight wins, it has been five straight losses for the Wildcats.

Wisconsin is currently 11-3 overall, and 5-2 so far in Big Ten Conference action. The Badgers are coming off of a win over Rutgers in their most recent game.

The Wisconsin Badgers are 10-point favorites at home over the Northwestern Wildcats.

Northwestern at Wisconsin Betting Preview: Wildcats Not Stopping Anyone

In recent years, Northwestern has bene a team that likes to play slow and stay in games with their defense. This version of Northwestern is much different, and their defense has been a major issue of late.

The Wildcats have given up at least 81 points in each of their last five games, and that’s a recipe for disaster for this team. Northwestern is a much more capable offensive team this season, but they aren’t going to be scoring 80 points a night.

Northwestern has four different players averaging double-figures this season, led by Miller Kopp at 13.5 points per game. Kopp is capable of scoring in a variety of ways, and the Wildcats will ned him to make shots in this one.

The team is actually shooting close to 38 percent from the three-point line this season, and a hot-shooting night could keep them in this game. Northwestern should be able to find some offense, but they have to get stops as well.

Northwestern at Wisconsin Betting Preview: Badgers Wear Down Opponents

Its the same old story for Wisconsin as this is a team that doesn’t beat themselves and will wear down opponents. The Badgers are able to beat teams with their offense, or they can win by playing suffocating defense.

Wisconsin is averaging 73.7 poitns per game this season, while holding opponents to just 62 points per game. The Badgers are always a much better team on their home floor, regardless if there are fans in attendance or not.

Guard D’Mitrik Trice leads the Badgers with 15.0 points per game, and he will be the player that can take over this game. Forward Micah Potter has chipped in with 12.3 points and seven rebounds per game, and he provides an interior scoring threat.

The Badgers shoot close to 40 percent from deep, and they very rarely take bad shots on offense. Wisconsin is not explosive on the offensive end of the floor, but they know how to put poitns on the board.

Northwestern at Wisconsin Betting Pick: Badgers Blow Out Wildcats

The Northwestern Wildcats looked like a surprise contender in the Big Ten early on in the year, but they are headed in the wrong direction. Losing five games in a row has to be affecting their conference, and going into Madison won’t help matters.

Wisconsin has been a bit inconsistent at times this season, but this is a veteran team that knows how to figure it out. The Badgers are the much better team on paper in this matchup, and they will impose their will in this one.

Northwestern just doesn’t have enough talent to compete with the top teams in the Big Ten, and this is going to be a sixth straight loss for the Wildcats.

Bet the Wisconsin Badgers -10.0 over the Northwestern Wildcats on Wednesday night.
