Nets at Pistons Preview and Betting Pick: The Nets have had a season to remember so far; with a record of 29-14, they are just one game in the loss column out of first place in the eastern conference behind the Philadelphia 76ers. With Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant already ruled out for this one, the Nets are already shorthanded, and if they feel like resting James Harden, who has been having neck issues, then it’ll be a Blake Griffin revenge game.
The Pistons are in yet another tailspin; they can’t seem to do anything right on a yearly basis. With a record of 12-30, they are dead last in the eastern conference and second to last in the league, only two games ahead of the Timberwolves for the second-worst record in the NBA this season. One bright spot has been rookie Saddiq Bey from Villanova. Multiple teams have called and asked for him at the trade deadline, but the Pistons are set and stone on keeping him for their future plans.
Brooklyn Nets Betting Preview
The Nets have won 18 of their last 20 games; the Nets picked the right time to be playing their best basketball of the season, with the Hawks and Bucks having win streaks of their own. The Hawks won eight straight games and won eight of their last nine and shot up all the way to the fifth seed, and the Bucks have won seven in a row to keep the pressure on the Nets as the third seed in the eastern conference.
Blake Griffin only played 15 minutes in his Nets debut scoring two points and grabbing two more rebounds and a block. The Nets have been adamant in saying that they’d ease him into the rotation, so he has a set role and understanding of the Nets system by the time the playoffs start. The Nets are 7-7 as the away favorites this season, and the Pistons are 10-7 as home underdogs this season. The Nets also average 123 points on the road this season, and the Pistons average 106 at home this season. All signs point to the Nets to win this game regardless of whether or not James Harden plays.
Detroit Pistons Betting Preview
The Pistons are having yet another ultra losing season sitting at dead last in the east with a record of 12-30. The lone bright spots for this team have been the emergence of rookie Saddiq Bey and the leading candidate for the most improved player of the year Jerami Grant. Grant is averaging 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists on the season. Bey is averaging 10 points on the season, but the past eight games has averaged 17 points and five rebounds a game.
The Pistons are 22-19 against the spread this season, mostly because of this past week, where they covered three games in a row. Detroit is also 10-7 against the spread as a home underdog; they have also covered against the Nets in both games they’ve played this season. So I like the Nets to win this game outright easily but covering the spread is a different story against the Pistons team for some reason.
