National Championship Preview:
Hard Rock Stadium in Miami will host the National Championship Game between #1 Alabama and #3 Ohio State on Monday night. The Buckeyes (7-0) and Crimson Tide (12-0) will both enter the National Championship Game unbeaten, but this won’t be the case when time expires on Monday night.
Ohio State and Alabama have both been virtually unstoppable this season in all three phases of the game. Alabama will enter the National Championship Game as a substantial favorite, but this matchup has all the makings to be a college football instant classic.

National Championship Preview: Ohio State Buckeyes | Sugar Bowl Statement
Ohio State dominated Clemson in the Sugar Bowl to punch their ticket to the National Championship Game. Justin Fields was the catalyst in the Buckeye’s 49-28 victory over the Tigers inside the Super Dome on New Year’s Day.
Fields took a massive hit to his ribs in the second quarter, but still managed to manufacture a heroic performance for his team. Fields was grimacing in pain all night, but he shined inside of the Super Dome throwing for 385 yards and six touchdowns.
The Tigers didn’t have an answer for the Buckeyes offense all night long. Ohio State scored four unanswered touchdowns during the first and second quarters of action. The Tigers went into the half defeated and were unable respond to the Buckeyes when they came out of the locker room.
The Buckeyes are averaging 43.4 points per game and giving up 21 points per game. This difference has allowed the Buckeyes to claim a 7-0 record thus far. Alabama will be their biggest challenge of the season, but Ohio State has shown that they have the ability to rise to the occasion in big game situations under head coach Ryan Day.
National Championship Preview: Alabama Crimson Tide | Complete Domination
Alabama hasn’t been tested once this season. This isn’t because they played a weak schedule in 2020. The Tide have played a much tougher schedule in the SEC than Ohio State faced in the Big Ten.
Alabama is just that good this season. This team has countless stars that play together in all three phases of the game. Eleven of Alabama’s twelve victories have been by at least two scores. The Tide’s average winning margin this season is 28 points.
Five of Alabama’s games have been against teams in the AP and Coaches Top 25 polls, so Alabama is no joke. The Alabama offense is led by Mac Jones, Najee Harris, and DeVonta Smith.
This group has terrorized opposing defenses all season long. DeVonta Smith won the Heisman Trophy this season for his record-breaking year. Smith hauled in 20 touchdowns and accounted for 1,641 yards this season.
Patrick Surtain II leads the Alabama secondary. Justin Fields will want to stay away from this cornerback on Monday night because Surtain has played lock down defense against some of the best quarterbacks in the nation.
On the defensive line, Christian Barmore leads the charge. Barmore is only a sophomore, but the 310 pounder has seven sacks and three forced fumbles to his name this year.
National Championship Preview: THE Game | The Matchup
This game is going to be won up front on Monday night. The winning team will be the one that controls the line of scrimmage consistently for four quarters. There are numerous playmakers for both teams in this football game like Mac Jones, DeVonta Smith, and Justin Fields.
However, these stars will be insignificant if their respective offensive and defensive lines don’t win the battle in the trenches. The Alabama offensive line will need to do what they’ve done all season long.
The unit has only given up eleven sacks and has opened up gaping holes for running back, Najee Harris week after week. When the Alabama offensive line is clicking, the team is virtually unstoppable because of all the stars in the Tide’s backfield.
The Ohio State offensive line will need to be flawless. Alabama is strong up front on the defensive side of the ball. Christian Barmore leads the charge on the line, but linebackers Dylan Moses, Christian Harris, and Will Anderson Jr. make it very difficult for opponents to experience offensive success.
The Buckeyes have their work cut out for them if they want to bring a title back to Columbus. Whatever team wins the battle in the trenches on Monday night will leave Hard Rock Stadium as the national champions.
National Championship Preview | The Pick
Ohio State is a really good football team, but I don’t believe that they can play with the Tide for four quarters. The Buckeyes need to keep this game close and limit Alabama’s scoring. This is much easier said than done.
If Ohio State goes down early, they won’t be able to stop the Tide’s tidal wave on Monday night. Ohio State will need to enforce their will on Alabama up front, but I don’t think they’ll have much success.
SEC football is no joke. The Big Ten wasn’t a very good conference this year and neither was the ACC. Notre Dame didn’t cause Alabama to sweat at all in the Rose Bowl Game. If Alabama faced Clemson, I’d take the Tide by at least two scores. Ohio State faced Clemson on an off night for the Tigers.
I don’t believe this game is going to be a shootout. I think the defenses will prevail for both teams, but Alabama will get the last laugh on Monday night and roll to another National Championship Game victory.
FINAL | Alabama 31 Ohio State 21
