Bulls at Timberwolves Preview and Pick: The Chicago Bulls will be in Minnesota on Sunday for a matchup with the struggling Timberwolves. Neither team in this matchup is anywhere near competing for an NBA Championship each season, but the Bulls are much further along in the process.
Chicago comes into this game with a record of 22-29, which has them just outside of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls had won three straight games before a disappointing effort and loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.
Minnesota has gone just 13-40 this season, and they could very well be picking first in the NBA Draft next season as well. The Timberwolves have gone just 1-4 in their last five games, and they have suffered some really big losses throughout the year.
The Chicago Bulls are 4.5-point favorites over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Bulls at Timberwolves Preview and Pick: LaVine Looking For Help
Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine has been absolutely ridiculous this season, and Friday night was a great example of that. LaVine poured in 39 points in the first half and finished with 50 in the loss to the Atlanta Hawks.
Chicago went out and brought in All-Star center Nikola Vucevic at the Trade Deadline, and he has played well since joining the Bulls. Vucevic has provided some interior scoring and is a solid number two option.
The problem for the Bulls is that they just don’t have many other reliable scoring options. Lauri Markkanen has the potential to be a great third option, but injuries have limited his progress.
The Bulls are also not a very good defensive team as they have given up close to 114 points per game. Chicago is going to have to bet better on both ends of the floor if they are going to be able to reach the playoffs and make a legitimate run.
Bulls at Timberwolves Preview and Pick: Minnesota Not Playing “D”
The Minnesota Timberwolves struggle in a number of areas, but their biggest issue is on the defensive end of the floor. Minnesota is giving up more than 117 points per game, and they have given up at least 141 points in each of their last two games.
Even though Minnesota has a poor record this season, they still have one of the best players in the NBA on their roster. Center Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 24.9 points per game this season, and he always has the ability to take over any game.
Anthony Edwards is also a centerpiece for this organization, and he has played well for much of the season. The Timberwolves have been scoring a ton of points lately, but they just don’t have the ability to stop anyone.
Minnesota is a team that is simply waiting for the season to end, and other teams have been able to pick up an easy win at times when playing the Timberwolves.
Bulls at Timberwolves Preview and Pick: Bulls Get Back on Track
There is no doubt that the Bulls have bad taste in their mouth after a disappointing second half in Atlanta on Friday night. Playing the Timberwolves is the perfect opponent to get some things figured out, and this is a game that Chicago just simply can’t lose.
Karl-Anthony Towns is a problem, and he could have a big night against this Bulls team. Minnesota just doesn’t have a ton of other talents, and they won’t be able to keep up on the offensive end.
Chicago is still a work in progress, but they are clearly the much better team in this matchup. LaVine will have another big night, but he will finally get some help in Minnesota as the BUlls run over Minnesota.
Bet the Chicago Bulls -4.5 over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.
Final Score:
Bulls 122
Timberwolves 108
