Tonight’s going to be an interesting Eastern Conference match-up, as the Brooklyn Nets vs Chicago Bulls game will be held at the United Center in Chicago, IL.
The Nets are stumbling into the playoffs, winning only one of their last five games. Luckily for them, they have a light end of the season schedule with the Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, all 7 seeds or worse, to end their season. The Nets got some good news last week as they found out that superstar shooting guard James Harden will be back and healthy for the playoffs when they start on May 22nd. The Nets’ chances of getting the first overall seed in the east are very slim because they are three games back with only four to go, so they will be preparing to face the 7th seed.
Meanwhile in the East, remember back when the Washington Wizards were situated at the bottom of the NBA standings for most of the first half of the season? And they were advised to tank for the rest of the season? Oh, how the fortunes of two teams this year have drastically changed.
Now, the Bulls are currently playing for their playoff lives, sitting two games behind the Wizards with four games left to go for the 10th and final seed for the NBA play-in tournament. Unfortunately, acquiring centers Nikola Vucevic and Daniel Theis at the trade deadline has not worked out the way Chicago had hoped, they sit with an overall record of 29-39 and are on the outside looking in at this very late stage in the season.
Brooklyn Nets betting preview
The Nets officially cannot catch the Philadelphia 76ers for the top seed in the Eastern Conference, but they still have something to play for. The Nets still have to fend off the Bucks, who are one game behind them in the loss column with three games left for each team. So the Nets need to win these last couple of games unless they want to risk playing the Knicks, who are currently the 6th seed.
The Nets absolutely love playing at home with an overall record of 25-8 at home this season. The Nets just beat this same Bulls team on Tuesday by a score of 115-107, where they covered another 5.5 point spread. The Nets and the Bulls both need this game for very different reasons, but I think the Nets get it done, this time at home after just beating the Bulls on Tuesday night.
Chicago Bulls betting preview
The only way for the Bulls to make the playoffs would be for the Wizards to lose the rest of their remaining two games, and the Bulls would have to win their remaining two, including a tough one against the Nets tonight. The Bulls and Nets have a season series that favors the Nets 3-1 with one game to go. The addition of Nikola Vucevic will come to no avail, but they now have one of the brightest futures in the NBA.
Chicago and Brooklyn have played four times already, and whether or not the Nets were underdogs or favorites, they have covered in all four games. I expect the Nets to come out firing, knowing they can end the Bulls season short while also helping their playoff cause. I think the Nets make this a fifth straight game against the Bulls that they cover.
