The Nets big three of James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving have silenced the doubters through two games of the playoffs. All three of them are averaging over 24 points per game in this series and they combined for 82 points in game one and 51 in game two. The dip in production in game two directly correlates to the success of Joe Harris who dropped 25 points and had 7 threes and he shot 70% from three-point land in that game.
The Celtics are struggling mightily without the leadership and the 25 points per game of Jaylen Brown. Brown’s absence has come with the increased minutes for guards, Marcus Smart and Payton Pritchard who both didn’t average 20 points in the regular season. The obvious lone bright spot for the Celtics has been their young superstar Jayson Tatum who left game two with an injury and only had 9 points. Luckily, the Celtics do expect to have him back for their first home game of the playoffs Friday night as they try to fend off the Nets from taking a 3-0 series lead.

The Nets have taken a 2-0 series lead over the Celtics. The Nets have improved on their defense, rebounding, and shot selection over the past few games, and with a winning record in Boston already this season, Nets won two of three games in Boston, and with the emergence of Joe Harris as the second-best 3-point shooter in the NBA this Nets team is stacked from top to bottom. The Nets still have no timetable for a possible Deandre Jordan return, Jordan hasn’t played since May 8th and has missed the past six games due to an injury.
The Nets overall record against the Celtics this season has now climbed to 4-1 through five games and they’ve covered in all four of their wins. The Nets are taking full advantage of the banged-up Celtics with no Jaylen Brown, they covered a 5.5 point spread and a 9.5 point spread so far this series and tonight’s spread is right in between them I expect Brooklyn to put the Celtics on their heels and go up 3-0 in this series.

The Celtics must win this game in order to stay alive in this series and avoid going down 3-0 to the best team in the NBA. Tatum has had two full days off to recover from an injury that forced him to leave game two after just 9 points. With Tatum not on the injury report and Kemba Walker banged up as he’s listed as day-to-day, this Celtics team doesn’t need any more adversity heading into this pivotal game three.
The Celtics are 0-2 this series covering the spread and the Over is 1-1 so far. The Nets have held a lead for over 30 minutes total and I don’t see the Celtics being able to stop the bleeding even in their home arena even with full fan attendance. This Nets offense has been too much for even the best of defenses and fully healthy teams to handle and I expect more of the same tonight as the Nets go up 3-0 in this series.
